Take Back the Night Rally and March Against Sexual Violence

Saturday, April 16, 2005

7:00 pm, Capitol Steps at State Street

 

  • A Multi-cultural, intergenerational celebration will feature music, poetry, survivor speakers, local service providers, and community leaders.
  • The Lt. Governor of Wisconsin, Barbara Lawton, a lifelong activist for citizen rights will give this year's keynote address.
  • After the rally, attendees will march through the streets of Madison with voices raised in an act of solidarity to protest sexual victimization in all forms.
  • The March will conclude with a candlelight vigil and a survivor speakout where women, whose lives have been forever changed by violence, are invited and encouraged to share their experiences in a supportive and empowering space.
