W.O.W. Talk: WEEK 1, PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

The W.O.W. (Women and girls Out Walking) Challenge began Sunday, May 8th! Put on your pedometer and track your steps each day!

For those of you who recently registered for the Challenge, it will take approximately 1 week for your pedometer and tracking log to get to you. Thanks for your patience and keep walking! You can always estimate your steps for the days you did not have your pedometer.

“Don’t wait for something big to occur.  Start where you are, with what you have, and that will always lead you into something greater.” ~~ Mary Manin Morrissey, Minister and Author

Welcome to the W.O.W. (Women and girls Out Walking) Challenge 2005!  We’re going to walk across the Southwest without leaving our hometowns. Our virtual route is designed with a goal of 10,000 steps per person each day. Stick with it and a team of two will walk from Louisiana to New Mexico by the end of the W.O.W. Challenge!

Tip of the week:  Remember to wear your pedometer all throughout the day whether you’re sitting at your desk, running errands, or taking a jog. And then record the total number of steps you take each day on your tracking log.

Thanks for joining and let’s get walking!

For Your Health

Physical activity is this week’s health topic.  It’s no surprise that more than half of all American adults don’t get enough exercise. What may be surprising is how easily exercise can be incorporated into even the busiest adults’ lives.  Just 30 minutes of moderate activity most days of the week can have a big impact on your health - from heart health to stress management to healthy weight to improved sleep to boosted energy!
