Women's Health Initiative — WHI Extension

Women’s Health Initiative Extension Study

114, 671 WHI Participants across the nation (2,706 at the UW Madison Center) agreed to participate in the WHI Extension Study. This study follows the health of these women through 2010, via telephone and mail contacts. The purpose is to continue to learn about the health of postmenopausal women, adding 5 years of follow-up. We hope to learn if the risks or benefits for hormone therapy, dietary modification, or Calcium/Vitamin D supplementation continue or disappear over time. For the Observational Study, we expect the additional follow-up will help us learn more about both common and less common diseases of aging.
